In the South of France, not far from Saint Guilhem‘s Abbey, the culture of vines is deeply rooted in tradition. In the heart of the terroirs of Aniane and Puéchabon, our 12 hectares of vines are nested on chalky-clayey hillsides. Land is perfumed with guarrigue fragrance (thyme, rosemary, savory...) and profits from an exceptional climate. Inspired by the familial passion, we took up in our grandfather's cellar again in 2000 before producing our first cuvées two years later with the appellation Coteaux du Languedoc. We chose to work with ancient selected grape varieties, typical of our local history and well-adapted to these terroirs. 50 years old Carignans, Grenaches, Syrahs, about 20-30 years old Cinsaults. Coloured deep ruby red and with an aroma subtly reminiscent of fully ripened sour cherries and cherries, it presents itself to the palate as consummately homogenous, fruity and juicy. The St. Laurent variety, which comes from France and belongs to the Burgundy family, requires a warm and none-too-moist growing environment, since it is particularly vulnerable to frost. The early-ripening St. Laurent grape enjoys ideal conditions on the alluvial gravel soil of the vineyards worked by the Klosterneuburg Monastery Wine Estate.

St. Laurent Barrique 2006 What makes our single-vineyard wines stand out is the particular choice of hand-picked grapes. The wine is made from grapes grown in individual vineyards with a long tradition and cultivated in individual sites for centuries. A highly selective and targeted harvest ensures the ripest of grapes, while the process of ageing the wines – done partly in small wooden casks guarantees that they can be stored for several years while maintaining their high quality. Ageing in small oak casks for 18 months lends the St. Laurent Barrique 2006 its charming vanilla notes. Both the fine bouquet of forest berries and cherries and the elegant tannin structure, as well as an outstanding maturation potential, characterise this full-bodied and multifaceted wine. Tattendorf offer optimum conditions for quality ripening of the thick-skinned, dark blue grapes.

Zweigelt 2006 The Zweigelt 2006 from the Klosterneuburg Monastery Wine Estate is a typical representative of its variety. Deep ruby red with a youthful character, a strong aroma of ripe bigarreau cherries, juicy and powerful on the palate, with elegant extract sweetness and a subtle tannin structure. The Zweigelt variety, created in 1922 by Prof. Zweigelt at the Klosterneuburg School of Winemaking by crossing Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, is one of Austria’s classic red wine varieties. In the gravely alluvial soil of Tattendorf, this species finds the necessary conditions for producing ideally ripe, oval-shaped, hard-skinned and juicy grapes.
